Board Agent
The Board agent helps you design, improve, and simplify your Kanban boards — from column structure and WIP limits to exit criteria and workflow policies.

The Board agent works at the design layer of your workflow. It does not work inside individual cards or across multiple cards. It works on the structure of a single board to help you build a system that supports clear, predictable, and healthy flow.

How to Open the Board Agent

Click the AI icon in the left navigation bar. The Board agent panel opens on the left side of your workspace.

What You Can Ask the Board Agent

When the Board agent opens, it offers a set of quick actions. You can tap any of them or type your own question.

  • New board — starts a guided 7-question wizard to design a new board from scratch, including columns, WIP limits, and policies.
  • Improve board — analyzes your current board structure and returns the highest-impact, lowest-complexity recommendations to improve flow.
  • Simplify workflow — identify complexity in your current board structure that is slowing the flow or adding unnecessary overhead.
  • Set WIP limits — recommends WIP limits for your columns based on your workflow volume and team capacity.
  • Define exit rules — helps you write clear, explicit criteria for when work is ready to leave a column.
  • Reduce complexity — surfaces structural issues such as too many columns, unclear states, or layout patterns that make the board harder to manage.

You can also type questions directly, such as:

  • Does my board structure align with how my team actually works?
  • What columns should I add or remove?
  • How should I structure swimlanes for different teams or work types?

What the Board Agent Will Not Do

The Board agent helps you design and improve your system. It does not act on your behalf.

Every change the Board agent proposes — a new column, a WIP limit, an exit rule — is shown to you as a proposal. Nothing is applied until you confirm it. You take the action.

be handed

It will not work inside individual cards, prioritize work across your boards, analyze flow metrics, or design automations.

When the Board Agent Hands Off to Another Agent

The Board agent knows its boundaries. When your question belongs to a different agent, it will be handed off automatically rather than giving you a partial answer.

  • Questions about prioritization across cards or boards are handed to the Guide agent
  • Questions about execution inside a specific card are handed to the Card agent
  • Questions about flow metrics, cycle time, or forecasting are handed to the Insights agent
  • Questions about automating workflow behavior are handed to the Flow agent
