Merge Cards with AI
Use AI to consolidate two cards into one — removing duplication, preserving unique work, and producing a single clean card ready to use.

When two cards cover overlapping work, you can merge them into a single consolidated card using AI. The AI reads both cards, removes duplication, preserves all unique tasks, and produces a clean merged result for you to review before anything changes.

How to Merge Cards

  1. Open the card you want to merge from.
  2. Click the Merge icon in the card toolbar at the top of the card.
  3. In the Merge with Another Card panel, search for the card you want to merge with.
  4. Optionally add guidance in the Anything the AI should pay attention to? field to influence how the AI consolidates the content.
  5. Click Generate.

Reviewing the Merged Card

The AI will produce a consolidated card with a merged title and description. You will see a preview before anything is applied.

From here, you have several options:

  • Checklists — choose how tasks are handled in the merged card. Select Only bring open tasks, Bring all tasks, or Don't bring any tasks.
  • Archive the original cards after merge — check this box if you want the source cards to be archived once the merge is complete. If left unchecked, the original cards remain on the board.
  • Regenerate — produces a new version of the merged card using the same inputs.
  • Edit inputs — returns to the input panel so you can adjust the card selection or guidance before generating again.
  • Merge Cards — applies the merge and creates the new consolidated card.

What Happens to the Original Cards' Data

When cards are merged, the new card starts fresh in several areas. Here is exactly what carries over and what does not.

  • Dates: preserved on the original cards. The merged card starts without dates.
  • Custom fields: preserved on the original cards. Not copied to the merged card.
  • Block status: not copied. The merged card starts unblocked.
  • Owners and watchers: the owner comes from the card you opened the merge from. Watchers are combined from both cards.
  • Comments and attachments: preserved on the original cards. Not moved to the merged card.
  • Metrics and history: start fresh on the merged card.
  • Links: the original cards are linked as children of the merged card.
